Original Translation File of Glossary Text Wanderers

(email correspondence between our translators and project managers concerning the Jade Dynasty translation project)

I am about to complete.
One question, please.
I have found that sometimes we have “three dots” as one sign (results of auto substitution?) in an original text
while in a translated text this corresponds to mere three dots. Only the latter could be scanned as a “dot” (dot + dot + dot).
Is this difference is critical?

Here is the response form the Lead Translator!
AP=Attack Power=Angriffsstarke
LV=Level=Level
Yard should remain Yard (miles=Meilen, inch=Zoll, etc.)
As to your corrections, he wrote “All valid, changed as indicated (Swiftness=Schnelligkeit now). Thank you for your excellent participation.”
So thank you for your participation!
Any new terms you may have (not correction to existing please add to the Add_New glossary.

Apparently you have not received the email so here it is again:
Currently I am translating text 18c and have two questions:
1) How do we have to translate measures, yardse in this case. I suppose we should not leave it as yards, but how do I have to deal with it?
2)The text contains the abbreviations AP and LV. Please let me know what they mean and if you have already agreed on a common translation.
Here some suggestions for the glossary:
– SACRIFICE: Opfergabe, with p, not b
– RIVER DWELLER: Fluss-Bewohner, according to the new German writing rules with ss
– BLESSING OF SPRING: Segnung des Fruhlings, so with an s at the end
– SWIFTNESS: was translated as Geschwindheit, shouldn¢‚¬„¢t it be Geschwindigkeit?
– WISDOM OF SCRIPTURES: what about Weisheit der Schriftene, instead of Weisheiten-Schriften?
– SKILL/SKILLS: could you add it as Fahigkeit/Fahigkeiten to the glossary?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I just got a response form the Lead Translator regarding your sample. That’s what he says:
“I have assessed the two samples (3 and 4, correct?):
Both are very good, good style, good atmosphere, very good term solutions.
If wanted, they can have a look at (very few) comments I left in file samples3+4comments_.doc.
Here are my comments for the other suggestions, I also uploaded them (comments_dictionary_.doc)”
So it was very good! Way to go!
Please take a look at his comments to the sample and also to comments he left for proposals of corrections to glossary, they are very useful.

When vetting, our middle name is “Stick To Source”. So even if there are 5 suspension points in the source instead of the classical three, we make sure target is same.
Or do you mean something else?
I am not sure I understand your question.

Thank you for your kind and detailed response! I learned a lot of your comments, and translators will benefit even more.
I informed the relevant translators.
I can not see the files you’ve uploaded on the site, is it possible that they did not get uploaded?

Thank you and sorry for taking your time.
All is OK about this “problem”.
I think this is just associated with copying from EXCEL to WORD and does not matter much for original EXCEL files.
Please don’t mind.

I have problem with message sending to you.

I’ve uploaded these files. I made some corrections concerning spaces, but I left them before text where translation or original text is longer. There is a + in file 15l – I left it.

—————————-

Please find uploded file German_JD_100201_Localize_Vetted__15i.xls.
During 1 hour I will send the second file.
Report:
Questions:
question mark only in German variant 217 (it is OK I guess)
semicolumn only in German variant 248(it is OK I guess ).

—————————-

I will take a look at the files. In any case, when not sure – don’t waste your time, mark red and send a note to me when completed. I will check.

Thank you and sorry for taking your time.

PS: The files had not been copied from/to word. All work was on excel files in Transit.
Just to let you know.

Please forward the following comments to the lead translator.
One of the glossary terms seems to have been mistranslated.
In the glossary, the French equivalent of Wanderers’ Gallse is La fille du vagabonde, but it makes no sense in the segment I am translating:
If you kill some Deadpool Wanderers and swallow the Wanderers’ Galls to try out their medicinal effects for me, I’ll tell you how to drive the Abyssal Vipers awaye
I think a more appropriate translation would be bile du vagabonde.

—————————-

I will take a look at the files. But if you find a +, this cell needs to be marked red, and you should comment to me which cell it was. During the translation process translators were marking with + any segment/term they were not sure about. Therefore if + remained in the target, we have to send the file back to proofreader.
Generally I would prefer your reports to be more specific and organized for example like this:

I think it is very clear form the context you have that “Wanderers’ Galls” means “bile/bile stones of the Wanderers”, not the “girl”. Translate according to the context, I will pass this to proofreader.
