To whom this might concern,
I am seeking to apply as a freelance translator from English to Italian (and vice-versa) at your company. My name is Alessandra and I am a qualified translator with a BA in Foreign Languages, an MA in Translation Studies, and a PG diploma in Legal Translation.
I have developed a strong interest in Translation as a result of the university courses I have attended. They have provided me with theoretical knowledge concerning this discipline as well as a practical approach to translation. Specifically, my translation portfolio contains different kinds of renderings, from novel excerpts and advertisement material to legal documents.
During my university studies, I have worked for an Italian Law firm providing translation services from English into Italian of documents such as confidential information, contracts, pleadings, letters, witness statements and litigations. While in London, I have worked for three months for Freedman International – a marketing company – at the side of the operational manager. My tasks consisted in administrating of the sourcing translation suppliers; managing translation supplier relationships; updating translation memories, and when there were projects available in my language pairs, translating, localizing and proofreading documents.Three months ago I moved to Boston.
Here, I would like to continue what I started in UK; follow my love for languages and become a full time translator. As far as my translation rate concerns, it is generally 0.03 USD per source word text, unless the text to be translated concerns or features a special field of expertise like law, finance or poetry in which case other rates apply and are expressed in advance. Some discounts may be applied in the case of large translation projects.
Please find attached my resume. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely, Alessandra
Professional Legal Translator
